Petrosino Mafia clan faces anti‑mafia raid and interrogations in Palermo

Italian Carabinieri and the Palermo Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia (DDA) carried out a large‑scale anti‑mafia operation targeting the Cosa Nostra clan operating in the town of Petrosino. Twelve suspects were transferred to the Pagliarelli prison in Palermo for mandatory interrogations on 9:30 a.m., where they invoked their right to remain silent before the investigating judge, Claudia Rosini. The prosecution team, led by magistrate Bruno Brucoli together with Pierangelo Padova and Federica Scuderi, presented the case that the clan controlled the local territory through intimidation, violence and illicit revenue streams.

Authorities also executed nine additional searches on minors linked to the investigation, seized 156 g of cocaine, two rifles, a pistol, 23 cartridges and traced a supply chain involving roughly 1.2 kg of cocaine and six kilograms of hashish. The operation marks a significant blow to the Petrosino mafia network, with a total of 40 individuals under investigation.
