Petrópolis to host inaugural Festival Sesc de Cinema in 2027

Petrópolis will host the inaugural Festival Sesc de Cinema in May 2027. Scheduled to take place from May 22 to 29 at the Centro Cultural Sesc Quitandinha, the event aims to expand Sesc RJ’s presence in the audiovisual sector through film exhibition, training, and industry promotion.

The festival will feature approximately 40 productions across five different showcases, complemented by debates, workshops, filmmaker meetings, and business rounds. This initiative coincides with the planned opening of Sesc RJ’s first cinema hall in the state, also located at the Centro Cultural Sesc Quitandinha, expected in early 2027.

Submissions for three specific showcases—Andança, Olhar Fluminense, and Mirada Infanto-juvenil—open on October 22, 2026, and will remain open until November 22, 2026. The Andança showcase is a competitive category for Brazilian short, medium, and feature films released after January 1, 2025.
