Petter Northug warns of broadcasting chaos for 2027 Falun World Ski Championships

Former cross-country skiing champion Petter Northug has expressed concern regarding the unresolved broadcasting rights for the 2027 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun. With approximately five months remaining before the event begins on February 24, no media deals have been finalized in Sweden or Norway.

Northug warned that the lack of a clear agreement could lead to “chaos” for viewers. He noted that the current landscape of sports broadcasting, where rights are often split between multiple providers such as NRK, TV 2, and Viaplay, makes it difficult for casual fans to know which channel is hosting specific events. He emphasized that these arrangements should have been settled well in advance to avoid confusion.
