Peugeot abandons 2030 goal for all-electric European lineup

Peugeot has abandoned its previous commitment to transition to an exclusively electric lineup in Europe by 2030. According to Peugeot General Manager Alain Favey, the brand will instead offer a mix of electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine models through the end of the decade.

The company plans to launch seven new or significantly updated models by 2030, utilizing Stellantis technologies. Key upcoming releases include new electric versions of the 208 and 2008, alongside updated gasoline and hybrid versions. Additionally, replacements for the 308 sedan, 308 SW, and 408 are in development and will be produced in France.

In the French market, the Peugeot 208 remains a dominant force, leading registrations in the first half of 2026. While the 208 competes closely with the Dacia Sandero, the broader market is seeing a structural shift, with fully electric vehicles accounting for approximately 28% of registrations in the first half of 2026, a significant increase from the previous year.
