Peugeot E-208 GTi qualifies for UK £1,500 Electric Car Grant

Peugeot has announced that its upcoming all‑electric E‑208 GTi will be eligible for the United Kingdom’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant. The model is priced from £34,995 before the discount, meaning the on‑the‑road price starts at £33,495 after the grant is applied. The E‑208 GTi carries a 276 bhp motor, 221 lb‑ft of torque, a 54 kWh battery and an official WLTP range of 217 miles, though real‑world estimates are expected to be lower. The car will be launched later in 2026 and is positioned as the cheapest model among Peugeot’s new electric performance range.

The £1,500 grant is part of the UK government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG) introduced in 2025, which replaces the former Plug‑in Car Grant. To qualify, a vehicle must be 100 % zero‑emission, sold new, and have a recommended retail price at or below £37,000 for the lower discount band (up to £3,750 for higher‑priced models). Plug‑in hybrids, mild hybrids and used cars are excluded. The scheme aims to make affordable electric cars more accessible while limiting incentives for luxury EVs.
