Peugeot shifts strategy to include hybrid and combustion models

Peugeot has revised its European strategy, moving away from a 2021 commitment to sell exclusively electric vehicles by 2030. The manufacturer will instead adopt a balanced approach, offering a mix of fully electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine models to reach a broader customer base.

The company plans to introduce seven new or significantly modernized models by the end of the decade. Initial releases will include new electric generations of the 208 city car and the 2008 compact crossover, alongside updated combustion engine versions. Other models slated for future updates include the 308 hatchback, 308 SW station wagon, and the 408 crossover.

As a major brand within the Stellantis group, Peugeot will utilize advanced group technologies, including the STLA One modular architecture and the STLA Brain electronic platform. The company aims to increase its annual sales from 1.1 million vehicles to 1.5 million by 2030. Additionally, Peugeot is expanding in China through a partnership with Dongfeng, with two new models expected to debut next year.
