Peugeot stops Australian sales while French demand pushes growth

In Australia, Stellantis and import partner Inchcape Australasia have suspended new Peugeot deliveries for 2026 after the brand recorded just 373 sales in the first five months – a 35% year‑on‑year decline and fewer units than luxury maker Ferrari. Existing stock continues to be sold, warranties remain valid, and Stellantis has said the brand will stay active in the market while local plans are updated.

In France, Peugeot posted a much stronger performance in the first half of 2026, registering 113,479 new vehicles and capturing a 13.2% share of the market. The 208 model led with 38,388 registrations, followed by the 2008 SUV with 27,016 units. Overall French car registrations rose 1.8% YoY to over 850,000, keeping Peugeot among the top sellers behind Renault.
