Peugeot unveils plans for a second‑generation electric 408 fastback

Peugeot, part of the Stellantis group, is developing a second‑generation version of its electric 408 fastback. The upcoming model will feature a markedly revised exterior with a sharper fastback silhouette and a new horizontal lighting signature, alongside an upgraded interior that includes a futuristic “Hypersquare” steering wheel and advanced driver‑assist controls.

The vehicle will shift from the older EMP2 architecture to Stellantis’ new STLA One platform, which underpins a range of upcoming models. Battery capacity is expected to rise to about 97 kWh, delivering an estimated WLTP range of roughly 700 km (435 mi). Power output is targeted around 157 kW (213 hp) with 343 Nm of torque. Production is slated for a 2029 launch, aligning with the FaSTLAne 2030 strategy that allocates additional funding to Peugeot’s development programmes.
