PFAS contamination concerns rise in Denmark

Concerns regarding PFAS contamination have been raised in Denmark following reports from the National Audit Office and consumer advocacy groups. The National Audit Office has criticized the Danish Defence for taking too long to investigate potential contamination at 41 sites. One specific area, the Korsør Fire School, has been identified where PFAS firefighting foam was sprayed directly onto the ground for years, potentially affecting local livestock and human health.

In a separate finding, the consumer organization Forbrugerrådet Tænk reported finding PFAS in nine out of nine tests conducted on canned cod roe and fish roe. The organization is calling for a total ban on these persistent chemicals and has noted concerns regarding the accuracy of product labeling and whether products actually contain the fish roe advertised.
