Pfizer reports positive Phase 3 trial results for Elrexfio in myeloma

Pfizer has announced that its multiple myeloma treatment, Elrexfio, met the primary endpoint in a Phase 3 clinical trial known as MagnetisMM-32. The study focused on adults who had previously received anti-CD38 therapy and lenalidomide, representing an earlier stage of treatment than the drug’s current U.S. indication.

The randomized, open-label trial involved 523 adults across 26 countries. Results showed that the estimated progression-free survival rate at 18 months was 68%, and the median progression-free survival had not yet been reached. Pfizer stated that Elrexfio reduced the risk of disease progression or death compared to physician-selected control regimens.

Regarding safety, the trial reported that Grade 3 or higher infections occurred in 27.5% of Elrexfio patients, compared to 18.1% in the control group. Fatal infections were reported in 0.8% of the Elrexfio group versus 1.6% in the control group. Pfizer noted that no new safety signals were identified and that infection prevention measures were implemented from the start of the study. The company plans to pursue global regulatory submissions based on these findings.
