Phú Quốc Island in Vietnam records 30% rise in visitors in first half of 2025

Vietnam's Phú Quốc island attracted nearly 5.8 million visitors in the first six months of 2025, a rise of over 30% compared with the same period last year. International arrivals reached 1.3 million, up 50.3%, contributing to tourism revenue of about 31.5 trillion VND, a 46% increase and meeting roughly 69% of the annual target. The surge is linked to visa‑free entry for many foreign travelers, expanded transport links, and the development of large‑scale resort and entertainment complexes, which have extended average stays and boosted spending. The bulk of international tourists came from South Korea, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, India and other Southeast Asian countries.

Condé Nast Traveler also highlighted Phú Quốc in its Readers’ Choice Awards as a top Asian island, noting its white‑sand beaches, coral reefs and inland attractions such as pepper plantations and a cross‑sea cable car. The island is part of a broader list of premier destinations featuring islands like Crete in Greece, Cape Breton in Canada and the Galápagos in Ecuador.
