Thanh Hoa police have prosecuted three individuals for manufacturing and selling counterfeit medicine marketed as traditional herbal remedies. The suspects, identified as Huynh Van Man, Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, and Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa, allegedly used fake identities of herbalists to build consumer trust on social media.

Investigations revealed that the group, which began operations around 2020, lacked medical training and manufacturing licenses. They produced pills and powders by mixing conventional pharmaceutical drugs—including paracetamol, dexamethasone, chlorpheniramine, and various vitamins—with herbal ingredients. Forensic testing confirmed the products contained undisclosed active ingredients and substances on prohibited lists.

The counterfeit products were advertised on Facebook as treatments for arthritis and sinusitis. Customers reported that the medicine failed to cure their ailments and, in some cases, exacerbated their pain. The suspects distributed the products through fast delivery services to customers and various wholesalers across the country.
