Philadelphia man charged after throwing cheesesteak at restaurant manager
A man has been charged with summary harassment after allegedly throwing a cheesesteak at a manager at Philadelphia’s Pat’s King of Steaks. The incident occurred on September 30 at the South Philadelphia establishment.
According to police and surveillance footage, the suspect recorded his visit and allegedly became upset with his order. He reportedly returned to the service window, told general manager Tom Francano, “This steak’s garbage,” and threw the sandwich at him before fleeing. Francano, a 50-year veteran of the restaurant, reported that he was not injured.
Pat’s owner Frank Olivieri suggested the act was a premeditated attempt to gain social media attention and go viral. Olivieri noted that the suspect appeared to be staging the incident to generate clicks. The owner had previously offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The suspect has since turned himself in to the police.
