Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber posthumously promoted to Sergeant
Law enforcement officers from across the country gathered in Philadelphia to honor Officer Shane Seiber, who was killed in the line of duty on October 10. During his funeral services, Seiber was posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant in recognition of his ten years of service with the Philadelphia Police Department and his previous two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Air Force.
Seiber, 40, was fatally shot while responding to a report of an armed man in West Philadelphia. His partner, Officer Hector Rodriguez III, was also shot multiple times during the incident but survived and is currently recovering in the hospital.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker described Seiber as “a giant of a man” and announced plans to establish an annual public-service internship program in his honor. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel paid respects to the fallen officer, noting his valiant fight. Seiber is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two children.
