Philadelphia police respond to armed man barricaded in SEPTA bus
An armed man barricaded himself inside a SEPTA Route 18 bus in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia on Monday morning, October 12. The standoff began around 5:49 a.m. near Rhawn Street and Oxford Avenue. Authorities confirmed the individual was armed, though no passengers or the bus operator were on board when the situation commenced.
Investigators indicated the man may be linked to the shooting deaths of two women, Sadie Turner, 78, and her adopted daughter, Gaby Turner, who were found inside a burning home in East Mount Airy earlier that morning.
The standoff caused significant traffic disruptions, including the closure of Oxford Avenue. Later in the afternoon, an ambulance arrived at the scene as officers were observed administering chest compressions to a man on a stretcher, though officials had not yet confirmed his identity or condition.
