Police standoff involving SEPTA bus in Philadelphia
Overview
On October 12, an armed man barricaded himself inside a SEPTA Route 18 bus in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. The standoff began around 5:49 a.m. near Rhawn Street and Oxford Avenue. While no passengers or the bus operator were on board during the incident, investigators suggested the individual might be linked to the shooting deaths of Sadie Turner, 78, and Gaby Turner, who were discovered in a burning home in East Mount Airy earlier that morning.
The situation caused significant traffic disruptions and the closure of Oxford Avenue. Later in the afternoon, officers were observed administering chest compressions to a man on a stretcher, though officials had not confirmed his identity or medical condition.
