Philadelphia International Airport issues measles exposure warning

Health officials in Philadelphia have issued a warning regarding a measles exposure at Philadelphia International Airport. An infected individual passed through the facility between 7:25 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 12:05 a.m. on Sept. 14, traveling through Terminals B and F and using connecting areas for Terminals C, D, and E.

This incident follows a separate measles exposure reported on Sept. 11 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), which affected areas including the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The Philadelphia Department of Public Health confirmed that the airport exposure is not connected to the hospital case.

Authorities urge travelers who were at the airport during the specified window to check their vaccination status. Those who are not immune, including infants, pregnant individuals, and the immunocompromised, are advised to contact a healthcare provider immediately. Pennsylvania has recorded 792 measles cases so far this year, resulting in 155 hospitalizations and four deaths. Nationally, the United States has reported 3,471 confirmed cases in 2026.
