Philadelphia teacher Hannah Gann admits to fabricating Palestinian and Black identity

Hannah Gann, a 34-year-old Philadelphia high school teacher and activist, has confessed to fabricating a Palestinian and Black identity. While media reports have focused on the identity fraud, Jewish advocacy groups argue the situation involves deeper concerns regarding extremism.

Jason Holtzman, director of Philadelphia’s Jewish Community Relations Council, noted that Gann had been on their radar since December 2023 due to inflammatory remarks made during a pro-Palestinian rally. Holtzman stated that reporting often misses the fact that Gann has also spread antisemitic tropes.

Gann’s revelations have led to the dissolution of a local pro-Palestinian educators group she helped lead. Following her public confessions on Instagram, her account was recently deactivated.
