Philippines Celebrates Disability Awareness Week in Nueva Vizcaya and Benguet

From July 17 to 23, 2026, the Philippines marked the 48th National Disability Awareness Week with a series of events across the region. In Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, the Governor’s Office Persons with Disability Affairs Division opened the week with a parade and ceremony at the Capitol Compound, recognizing municipal disability officers and awarding livelihood support, a bazaar of PWD‑made products, and capability‑building training in partnership with the provincial disaster risk office.

Meanwhile, Benguet State University’s Office of Student Services conducted a two‑day Entrepreneurship and Bookkeeping Training for students with disabilities, aligning with the week’s theme “Rights First, Legislation Forward.” The program, delivered with TESDA’s support, taught bookkeeping fundamentals, business management, and offered pathways to National Certificate qualifications, aiming to boost financial independence and academic success for participants.
