Philippines provincial awareness campaigns
Overview
In early July 2026, the disaster‑risk offices of Nueva Vizcaya and Bataan launched National Disaster Resilience Month with flag‑raising, distribution of over 3,000 GO‑BAG kits, earthquake drills and a First Aid Olympics.
From 17–23 July, the focus shifted to disability inclusion. Nueva Vizcaya opened the 48th National Disability Awareness Week with a Capitol‑compound parade, awards for municipal disability officers, a bazaar of products made by persons with disabilities, and livelihood‑support training coordinated with the provincial disaster‑risk office. Simultaneously, Benguet State University, with TESDA’s backing, held a two‑day Entrepreneurship and Bookkeeping Training for disabled students, promoting financial independence and pathways to National Certificate qualifications.
The province’s disability‑rights agenda continued later in July. On 23 July, Nueva Vizcaya’s Department of Education and local government staged Project BEST, featuring a spelling bee, Filipino Sign‑Language storytelling, a talent pageant and an exhibition of crafts from special‑education centres. In Bulacan, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office hosted the “Basta Bulakenyo Kahit May ‘K’ OK!” program on 22 July, a singing competition with cash prizes that underscored the governor’s pledge to inclusive development.
These successive events illustrate a consistent pattern of Philippine provincial governments organising thematic awareness weeks and months—ranging from disaster resilience to disability rights—to engage officials, civil‑defense agencies and communities in targeted capacity‑building activities.
