Philippines confirms no arrest warrant for Senator Rodante Marcoleta
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla told the Daily Tribune that no arrest warrant has been issued against Senator Rodante Marcoleta, noting that a warrant requires a formal charge to be filed before the Sandiganbayan. Remulla said, "No case filed against him (Sen. Marcoleta)."
The Philippine National Police also confirmed that it has not received any official warrant for Marcoleta. PNP public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co said, "As of now, the Philippine National Police has not received any official communication regarding a said warrant." The police emphasized they will act on any court order. Marcoleta had earlier warned that a warrant could be issued in connection with plunder and indirect‑bribery complaints over undeclared campaign contributions, but both the DILG and PNP say no such warrant exists.
Separately, the Ombudsman has asked the Sandiganbayan to impose a precautionary hold‑departure order on Marcoleta and three donors linked to a P75 million campaign fund that was not declared to the Commission on Elections.
