Philippines customs officials seize major drug shipments in Clark and NAIA
The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intercepted two significant shipments of illegal drugs in separate operations.
At the Port of Clark, authorities seized approximately 4,140 grams of suspected ketamine, valued at ₱20.7 million. The substance was concealed within a shipment declared as a “ceramic fan” arriving from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The interception was made possible through X-ray inspection and subsequent physical examination conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
In a separate operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), agents seized 73.002 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, valued at ₱496.4 million. The drugs were hidden inside the tubular frames of an industrial pelletizing machine shipped from Mexico. Following a tip-off and intelligence work, X-ray scanning and K9 units led to the discovery. Authorities noted that the consignee listed for the shipment was fictitious.
