The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has reported near-daily drug smuggling attempts at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2. These attempts include the export of cannabis flowers.
AKPS Director-General Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain stated that the agency is coordinating targeted screenings, intelligence, and K9 unit management alongside Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB). Official data indicates that the value of seizures and prevented revenue leakages has increased nearly threefold this year, exceeding RM265 million compared to RM80 million last year. Major seizures involve both drugs and electronic waste, with many intercepted individuals identified as foreign nationals.
