Philippines EV market grows with BYD dealership expansion and Chery Tiggo rEV reaching 1,000 units

BYD Cars Philippines is accelerating its nationwide rollout, opening new showrooms and service centers in Metro Manila, Luzon and Mindanao. The brand unveiled BYD Valenzuela – its largest dealer in the National Capital Region – and BYD Otis in Manila, followed by BYD Dasmariñas in Cavite and BYD Angeles near the Clark Freeport Zone. Managing director Bob Palanca said the network aims to make electric ownership “attainable” by providing comprehensive after‑sales support across the country.

Chery Auto Philippines reported that its Tiggo rEV model has surpassed the 1,000‑vehicle milestone on Philippine roads. Retail sales rose 69% year‑on‑year in June 2026 to 220 units, and total sales from January to June hit 981 units, a 58% increase. The model ranks third among plug‑in hybrids in the market, according to CAMPI‑TMA data. Brand head Franz Decloedt highlighted the balance of efficiency, performance and cost savings, while the company relies on United Asia Automotive Group’s 20‑year dealer network for service and parts. Chery Group recorded global sales of 1,357,533 vehicles in the first half of 2026.
