Philippines fintech firms expand remittance infrastructure

Financial service providers in the Philippines are expanding digital and physical infrastructure to enhance the reliability of overseas remittances. GCash has focused on strengthening cross-border payment capabilities to ensure stability for families during crises. During recent disruptions in the Middle East, the platform waived remittance fees and streamlined onboarding by accepting Middle East-issued government IDs to facilitate faster emergency aid.

Simultaneously, the Palawan Group of Companies has partnered with AltPayNet to broaden its international remittance reach. This collaboration allows beneficiaries to receive funds through the PalawanPay app or via more than 3,800 Palawan Express Pera Padala branches nationwide. These developments follow data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas indicating that personal remittances from overseas Filipinos reached US$39.62 billion in 2025.
