Philippines fuel prices expected to rise starting August 18
Fuel prices in the Philippines are expected to rise starting Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following a recent period of price rollbacks. Industry estimates suggest diesel prices could increase by P3.75 to P4.25 per liter, while gasoline may see an increase of P2.50 to P3.00 per liter.
The anticipated hike is driven by global supply concerns, including declining fuel inventories and refinery disruptions in various regions. Tensions in key oil-producing areas and reduced exports from major suppliers have also tightened the market, particularly for diesel.
While upward pressure remains, analysts noted that slower global demand growth and rising crude oil inventories in the United States could potentially limit the extent of the price increases. Under the Oil Deregulation Law, the Philippine government does not control fuel prices, though the Department of Energy is currently working to establish a strategic petroleum reserve.
