Philippines fuel price hikes

In late July 2026 the Philippine Department of Energy announced a sharp increase in fuel prices – diesel up about P10.68 per litre, kerosene P11.77 and gasoline P3.65 – to take effect on 21 July. The hike was attributed to renewed tensions in West Asia that lifted global oil prices. With the country importing roughly 98 % of its crude, authorities noted ample stock levels, but motorists and transport operators queued at stations and warned of higher household and logistics costs.

A week later, the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board approved a Level 13 jet‑fuel surcharge effective 1 August, adding roughly P423 to domestic airline tickets and P1,396 to international fares. The surcharge reflected a 7 percent rise in global jet‑fuel prices to about $160 per barrel. Retail fuel sellers also announced another oil‑price increase for diesel and gasoline, underscoring the ongoing pressure from volatile global oil markets on both road and air transport in the Philippines.
