Philippines House of Representatives votes to impeach Vice President

The Philippine House of Representatives has voted by more than the required one-third of its membership to impeach the Vice President, finding probable cause to do so. Following constitutional mandates, the House is forwarding the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate for trial.

An appeal has been made to the Senate to convene as an impeachment court as soon as possible to avoid delaying justice. The call urges Senators to adhere to the Constitution by summoning witnesses, hearing testimony, and deciding the case based on evidence to maintain public confidence in the rule of law and democratic institutions.
