Philippines launches e-Visa service in Dubai

The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has officially begun issuing electronic visas (e-Visas) for foreign residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Following a two-week beta-testing period, the service launched on October 26 to streamline travel for tourism, business, medical treatment, and conferences.

The e-Visa system allows eligible applicants to apply online via evisa.gov.ph without the requirement for personal appearances or interviews. This digital service is intended to make travel to the Philippines more accessible and faster, particularly for citizens of the 37 countries and territories that require a visa prior to entry.

While the e-Visa offers convenience, it will run alongside the traditional sticker visa system. The e-Visa is limited to 9(a) temporary visitor status and cannot be converted to other visa types or extended. Travelers requiring different visa categories or longer stays must continue to use the consulate’s Online Pre-Assessment System to apply for conventional sticker visas.
