Philippines police seize firearms from Senator Bato Dela Rosa

The Philippine National Police (PNP) took custody of 20 firearms surrendered by Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on 11 June 2026 after his gun‑ownership license and registrations for 117 weapons were revoked. The revocation followed a Department of Justice order to implement an International Criminal Court arrest warrant linked to the former president’s anti‑drug campaign.

PNP Director General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. praised the peaceful handover and urged Dela Rosa to surrender any remaining unaccounted firearms and to cooperate fully with ongoing legal processes. The police continue to pursue the senator under the existing directives.

The incident aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s broader push to tighten firearm controls nationwide.
