Philippines storm damage hits PHP 12.4 billion
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on September 9, 2026, that the combined impact of tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, Neneng, and Pilandok, along with the southwest monsoon, has caused approximately PHP 12.4 billion in damage to agriculture and infrastructure in the Philippines.
Agricultural losses are estimated at PHP 4.1 billion, affecting 92,868 farmers and fisherfolk across regions including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cordillera, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas. Of the 80,274 hectares of affected crops, roughly 56,787 hectares may recover, while 23,488 hectares are considered unrecoverable.
Infrastructure damage is estimated at PHP 8.3 billion. The weather events have also caused significant residential destruction, with 3,758 houses damaged and 603 destroyed across seven regions. The death toll has reached 44 people, with 18 reported injured and five individuals still missing.
