Philippines Supreme Court launches nationwide electronic notarization
The Supreme Court of the Philippines officially launched a nationwide electronic notarization service on October 19, 2026. This initiative allows qualified Electronic Notaries Public to notarize eligible electronic documents through accredited digital platforms.
Under the Supreme Court’s Rules on Electronic Notarization (A. M. No. 24-10-14-SC), the process can be conducted through two primary methods: In-Person Electronic Notarization (IEN) and Remote Electronic Notarization (REN) via videoconferencing. This system is distinct from simple electronic signatures, requiring a formal notarial process performed by an authorized electronic notary using an accredited Electronic Notarization Facility (ENF).
The service aims to provide entrepreneurs, corporations, and individuals with a digital alternative to traditional paper-based notarization for documents such as affidavits, powers of attorney, and contracts. The process involves document preparation in PDF format, identity verification through government-issued IDs, and secure digital storage of the completed documents.
