Philippines targets Mindanao and Visayas for economic and industrial growth
Regional economic growth in the Philippines is driving significant development across Visayas and Mindanao. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority indicates that cities such as Butuan (8.7%), Davao (7.9%), Iloilo (7.1%), and General Santos (6.8%) are expanding faster than the national average.
In response to this momentum, Crown Asia is expanding its residential footprint in these regions, developing themed, master-planned communities like Harland Place in Iloilo. These developments aim to meet the rising demand for premium provincial living supported by improved infrastructure, such as the Iloilo International Airport.
Simultaneously, the Philippine government is positioning Mindanao as a strategic hub for artificial intelligence and technology-driven industries. Under the 2026 Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP), the region is being targeted for advancements in integrated circuit design, mineral processing, and digital services. The Board of Investments is supporting this transition through digital connectivity projects and initiatives to align academic training with industrial workforce needs.
