Philippines telecoms Globe and PLDT roll out home broadband speed upgrades
Globe AT HOME announced a program that gives loyal Filipino customers free WiFi 6 modem upgrades and complimentary speed boosts of up to 1 Gbps for a 24‑month commitment. The move is positioned as a response to rising household expenses and the energy crisis, aiming to support remote work, online learning and leisure without added cost.
Separately, PLDT Home expanded its Fiber Prepaid service, now offering speeds of up to 300 Mbps alongside 100 Mbps and 50 Mbps tiers. The prepaid plans, which can be loaded for periods ranging from one day to a year, target streaming, gaming and productivity needs. Both providers highlighted the upgrades as ways to help Filipino families stay productive and reduce transport‑related energy use.
The initiatives reflect a broader push by the country's leading telecom operators to enhance connectivity and affordability for consumers facing economic pressures.
