Philippines weather: ITCZ and low-pressure area bring widespread rain

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and a low-pressure area (LPA) are expected to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy skies across various regions of the Philippines, including Mindanao, Visayas, and Southern Luzon.

PAGASA reports that the LPA was spotted approximately 125 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Affected areas include the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and parts of Davao. In Mindanao, specific regions such as Lanao del Sur and Davao Oriental are expected to face weather disturbances.

The weather agency has issued warnings regarding the potential for flash floods and landslides, particularly in communities situated near rivers, waterways, and steep slopes. While localized thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila and parts of Luzon, the southwest monsoon will prevail over Palawan, Mimaropa, and sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

Additionally, Tropical Storm Dujuan is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, located roughly 2,970 kilometers east of Northern Luzon, though it currently has a slim chance of entering the area.
