Philippines weather warnings issued for Visayas and Mindanao

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued weather warnings for the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

In the Visayas, residents can expect intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms with variable winds and unsettled coastal conditions. While no specific tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is identified, the region faces potential sudden heavy downpours and lightning.

In Mindanao, including the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the forecast includes isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned of potential flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas near rivers, creeks, or steep slopes. These weather conditions coincide with the first parliamentary elections in the BARMM, which may impact voter mobility and access to polling stations.
