Phthiotis infrastructure: 13.2 million euro road and flood protection projects
The Governor of Central Greece, Phanis Spanos, conducted a series of inspections on September 15, 2026, to oversee critical infrastructure and flood protection projects in the Phthiotis regional unit. The Region of Central Greece is implementing eight infrastructure and road restoration projects with a total budget of approximately 13.2 million euros.
Key works inspected include the restoration of embankments at the Xiriotissa junction, road network maintenance near the University (formerly TEI of Lamia), and repairs to the Vistriza bridge on the Sykas–Agios Sostis provincial road. Additionally, efforts are underway to clean and repair technical works in the Vistriza stream and the old bed of the Spercheios River to enhance flood defenses.
Other projects involve road repairs on the Amouri–Lianokladi axis (National Road 38) and improvements to the provincial road leading from the Kostalexio bridge to the local community of Kostalexio. The inspections aimed to ensure that works adhere to technical specifications and timelines to improve regional safety and connectivity.
