Phu Quoc aims to become a major MICE and luxury tourism hub

Phu Quoc is positioned to become a major high-end coastal resort and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination in Vietnam. This development aligns with the Politburo’s Resolution 26-NQ/TW, which aims to establish tourism as a key economic sector, targeting 45-50 million international visitors and $80 billion to $90 billion in revenue by 2030.

The island has received significant international recognition, including being named one of the world’s top 10 island destinations for 2026 by Expedia and the best island in Asia by CN Traveler. Data from the Traveloka SEA Index shows Phu Quoc leading with a score of 100, reflecting an 86 percent year-on-year increase in hotel bookings among top destinations.

In the first nine months of 2026, Phu Quoc welcomed nearly 8.6 million visitors, including approximately 1.9 million international arrivals. The island’s tourism activities generated more than VND 45.97 trillion, accounting for roughly 79 percent of the total tourism revenue for the province.
