Phu Quoc emerges as a leading tourism destination in Southeast Asia

Phu Quoc is emerging as a major tourism hub in Southeast Asia, according to recent data from the travel platform Traveloka. The island has surpassed reference growth rates across five monitored markets: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Traveloka identified Phu Quoc as the top destination among a group of new regional entries, outperforming locations such as Paris, London, Hangzhou, and Nagoya. The island is noted for being the fastest-growing international destination for Indonesian tourists and a top five fastest-growing domestic destination for Vietnamese travelers.

In addition to regional growth, Phu Quoc has received international recognition. It led the list of Asian islands in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards (U.S. edition) and was named one of the top 10 most outstanding islands in the world by Expedia in July 2026. The island is currently preparing to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in 2027.
