Phu Quoc infrastructure project accelerates for APEC 2027
Construction is accelerating on the DT. 975 provincial road in Phu Quoc to prepare for the APEC 2027 summit. The project serves as a vital transport spine connecting Phu Quoc International Airport to the central area and the APEC Convention and Exhibition Center.
The 19.26 km project features a 62-meter right-of-way with up to 10 lanes. It is designed as a modern multi-modal transport axis, with the central median reserved for a 17.59 km Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. The LRT will include 14.81 km of ground-level tracks, 0.78 km of elevated tracks, and approximately 2 km of underground sections passing through the APEC Convention and Exhibition Center core to eliminate level crossings.
Once operational, the LRT is expected to reduce travel time from the airport to the southern island complexes to approximately 20 minutes. Construction is currently focusing on tunnels, bridges, stations, and track installation. The project aims for full completion by the second quarter of 2027.
