Vietnam advances Long Thanh and Phu Quoc airport runway projects
After 14 months of construction, the concrete surface of the second runway at Long Thanh International Airport in Đồng Nai province has been completed. The runway, 4 km long, is expected to be finished by the end of September 2026, with test flights planned for December 2025 and commercial operations slated for December 2026.
The 3,300‑metre second runway at Phú Quốc International Airport has been built in eight months and is now undergoing final inspections of lighting and signage. A calibration flight is scheduled for 27 July, and the runway will allow wide‑body aircraft such as the Boeing 787, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 to serve the airport ahead of the 2027 APEC summit. The expansion project is valued at nearly VND 22 trillion (US$836 million).
