Phu Quoc sees rising tourism and global recognition

Phu Quoc is experiencing a significant surge in tourism, driven by both holiday celebrations and growing international recognition. For the September 2 National Day holiday, the island expects tens of thousands of visitors. Festive activities, including traditional Vietnamese cultural performances like water puppetry and calligraphy, are being held at major complexes such as Grand World Phu Quoc.

At Sun World Hon Thom, visitor numbers for sightseeing and entertainment have reportedly more than tripled compared to the same period in 2025, with approximately 6,000 visitors currently attending. International travelers from South Korea, China, and India are among the notable groups visiting the island.

Adding to this momentum, Condé Nast Traveller Middle East has named Phu Quoc one of the top 10 most searched island destinations in the world for 2026. Based on Expedia search trends, the island saw a 25% increase in search volume. The publication highlights Phu Quoc as a premier destination for ‘affordable luxury,’ noting its evolution from a collection of fishing villages into a sophisticated hub of high-end resorts and boutique hotels.
