Phu Quoc to receive first MICHELIN Guide selection in 2027
The MICHELIN Guide has announced its expansion to Phu Quoc, Vietnam, making it the fourth destination in the country to receive the guide's recognition. The first restaurant selection for the island is expected to be unveiled in mid-2027.
This expansion coincides with the year Phu Quoc is scheduled to host APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Observers suggest this convergence provides a strategic opportunity to leverage gastronomy to attract international delegates and business travelers, encouraging longer stays and increased spending through high-end dining experiences.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, noted that the island possesses a distinctive culinary identity rooted in its sea-based culture and local products, such as aromatic pepper and fish sauce. The expansion is supported by Sun Group, which highlighted the island's growing accessibility, including its unique 30-day visa-free policy for travelers from all territories.
