Phu Quoc welcomes first direct flight of Russian tourists for winter season

Phu Quoc has officially commenced its 2026-2027 winter tourism season with the arrival of the first direct flight from Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The flight, operated by Vietjet Air in collaboration with Anex Tour Vietnam, carried 370 Russian tourists to the island.

To mark the occasion, local authorities and airline representatives organized a welcome ceremony featuring traditional lion dances and the presentation of Vietnamese conical hats (non la) to the passengers. Local businesses, including hotels, transport providers, and entertainment venues, have coordinated to ensure service readiness for the upcoming peak season.

Ozkan Liman, Operations Director of Anex Vietnam, noted that Phu Quoc’s warm climate and diverse service systems make it an ideal destination for winter retreats for travelers from Russia and Eastern Europe. Anex Tour Vietnam aims to bring approximately 15,000 Russian visitors to Phu Quoc per month during this season. The expansion of these direct routes is supported by Vietnam’s 45-day visa exemption policy for Russian citizens, facilitating longer stays.
