Phu Tho police prosecute six people over hospital livestream disorder

Phu Tho Provincial Police have prosecuted six individuals for “disturbing public order” following a livestream incident at Lac Viet Friendship Hospital. The group, consisting of the biological parents, parents-in-law, uncle, and aunt of a 27-year-old woman, targeted the hospital after being misled by her false claims.

The incident began when the woman falsely told her family that she had visited Lac Viet Friendship Hospital and was told her pregnancy had a defect and required termination. In reality, a different hospital had confirmed she was not pregnant. Believing her, the family went to the hospital to confront staff, using a Facebook livestream that attracted approximately 17,000 to 20,000 views.

During the livestream, the group shouted at medical staff and spread unverified information, causing significant disruption to hospital operations. Major General Nguyen Minh Tuấn, Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Police, described the case as highly unusual, noting that multiple sets of in-laws and extended relatives were prosecuted due to a single unverified livestream. Authorities are currently reviewing electronic evidence from approximately 700 social media accounts that shared or commented negatively on the event.
