Phu Tho police investigate AI-generated misinformation regarding pagoda assault

Phu Tho Provincial Police are processing a case involving the use of AI-generated images to spread misinformation regarding an incident at Bau Pagoda in Vinh Phuc ward. On August 13, a woman identified as Ms. D. T. N. from Nong Trang ward admitted to using her Facebook account to post AI-edited images that misrepresented the reality of a physical assault involving five young monks at the pagoda.

Following an investigation into the original incident on August 10, authorities identified Nguyen The Duy, a resident of Khanh Hoa province currently practicing at Bau Pagoda, as the individual responsible for the assault. Ms. N. has since removed the posts and pledged not to repeat the offense, while police continue to finalize documentation for legal proceedings.

Authorities have issued warnings to the public regarding the dangers of AI-generated content, noting that such images can make it difficult for users to distinguish truth from falsehood. Citizens are urged to verify sources, avoid sharing unverified content, and report suspicious online activity to maintain social order and a safe digital environment.
