Bau Pagoda assault and subsequent misinformation

Phu Tho provincial police arrested 23-year-old Nguyen The Duy for intentionally injuring five young monks at Bau Pagoda using a handmade branch-whip. Duy admitted to the assault, claiming he used the whip as a deterrent because the children were not following instructions or maintaining cleanliness. N. admitted to using Facebook to post AI-generated images that misrepresented the reality of the physical assault. While the suspect removed the posts and pledged not to repeat the offense, police continued legal proceedings and issued warnings to the public regarding the dangers of AI-generated content and the difficulty of distinguishing truth from falsehood online.
