Phu Tho province promotes sustainable and safe agricultural production

In Phu Tho province, Vietnam, local authorities and the Farmers' Union are transitioning traditional vegetable farming toward safe, high-value commodity production focused on environmental sustainability. In Phung Nguyen commune, farmers are increasingly adopting organic fertilizers, biological products, and scientific technologies to reduce environmental impact and improve crop quality.

Currently, Phung Nguyen hosts five production and processing units involving over 200 households. Notably, 45 hectares of the Tu Xa safe vegetable area are being cultivated under VietGAP standards. This shift is supported by extensive training programs; in the first seven months of 2026, the local Farmers' Union organized nearly 30 training sessions for over 24,000 participants.

Across the wider Phu Tho province, efforts to modernize agriculture include vocational training and the transfer of digital technologies. Over the last three years, the provincial Farmers' Union has coordinated 935 training classes for more than 114,000 members, covering topics ranging from livestock management to e-commerce and agricultural marketing to support the development of new rural areas.
