Piaggio Indonesia expands local assembly to include Vespa S
PT Piaggio Indonesia has expanded its local assembly operations at its manufacturing facility in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, West Java. Following the local production of the Vespa LX, the company has now added the Vespa S to its domestic assembly line.
According to Ayu Hapsari, PR Communications Manager for PT Piaggio Indonesia, the decision to localize the Vespa S was driven by technical efficiencies, as the model shares a 150 cc engine base and several key components with the LX. The Jababeka plant, which has been operational since late 2022, is designed to accommodate a production capacity of up to 10,000 units per year.
The new Vespa S 150 features an i-get 150 cc engine, an LCD instrument panel, and an immobilizer security system. It is available in three color options and is priced starting from Rp48 million. Localizing production is expected to optimize factory capacity and accelerate unit distribution to official dealers across Indonesia.
