Piamonte woman killed in attack by ex-husband

A 56-year-old woman, Lucrecia Edit Zarmati, was killed in Piamonte, Santa Fe, following an attack by her ex-husband, Ricardo Ellena. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon as Zarmati was leaving her workplace at a local school.

According to investigators, Ellena, 64, used a Peugeot 208 to strike the victim while she was riding her bicycle. He then exited the vehicle and attacked her with a knife. Despite receiving emergency medical assistance at a local health center, Zarmati succumbed to her injuries.

The suspect, who was under a valid judicial restraining order prohibiting him from approaching the victim, attempted to take his own life at an abandoned property following the attack. He sustained severe neck injuries and is currently hospitalized under medical custody in El Trébol. Prosecutor Carlos Zoppegni is leading the investigation to reconstruct the events and determine the circumstances surrounding the violation of the protection order.
